Hey everyone! Its Mack,

During the rise of COVID 19, students from all over the world were sent home from their universities and study abroad trips to help stop the rise of the virus. I was currently on my 2020 spring break trip when we were told to pack up everything we could and head home. My friends and I thought we’d all be seeing each other back at KU within a week, but that week turned into a very long five months.

Students were faced with many new challenges when it came to E-Learning for our last few months of 2nd semester. Since all of our classes were through Zoom, there were connections issues, availability issues, time management issues, and worst of all there were self-motivation issues. It is hard to want to learn and pay attention when you have so many distractions going on at home.

Soon after finals were done I started to realize this was going to be the longest summer of my life. Normally I’m only home for a couple of months then back in Lawrence KS walking down Jayhawk Boulevard. Not this time.

I am now wrapping up what felt like a very short summer. As much as I thought I would dread being home for this long, I actually enjoyed every minute of it. Normally I am rushing around making sure I get to see everyone I can before I go back to school but this time I got to relax and enjoy spending time with my family and friends whenever I wanted.

I was so upset that I couldn’t travel this summer and document more beautiful places around the world but I did realize that this summer I didn’t have to go far to experience a beautiful place. The beauty was right here in my backyard. A summer filled was amazing memories that I will never forget.

Here are some of my favorite pictures I took this summer:

Wish you all the best,

☆ Mack ☆
